create revision 7c478bd95313f5f23a4c958a745db2134aa03244
The create command enables you to create new objects: files, and
file folders. File folders can store files or other file folders.
"File folder name" is the pathname of the file folder where the object
will be created. The pathname may be relative to the current folder,
or your Filecabinet, or it may be the full UNIX System pathname.
Use one of the methods below to create an object. The object will be
placed on the currently active file folder if the destination
file folder is not specified with the create command.
Function Key: Press the CHG-KEYS function key, then create.
Command Menu: Select create and press ENTER.
Command Menu: Press CTRL-j with cursor on create and an -->
(alternative) will appear on the command line followed by the
create. Type arguments and press ENTER to
execute the command.
Command Line: Type create [object] [file folder name] and press
ENTER.
1. If an "object_name" is not specified, a prompt appears asking
you to enter an object name. Type in a one word name up to
12 characters long and press ENTER. Note that some
applications may require you to specify a name that is less
than 12 characters. If this is the case and you have specified
a name that is too long an error message will display and the
create procedure will begin again.
2. Select the object type you are creating from the list of
object types titled "Create <object>" and press ENTER.
Striking the CANCEL function key will cancel the create
action.
If you are creating a file folder, it will appear in the destination
folder frame.
If you are creating a standard file, your default editor will
automatically be invoked enabling you to begin entering text.
