1037N/A<a name="id2606658"></a><h2>DESCRIPTION</h2>
1037N/A<p><span><strong class="command">named-checkzone</strong></span>
1037N/A checks the syntax and integrity of a zone file. It performs the
1037N/A same checks as <span><strong class="command">named</strong></span> does when loading a
1037N/A zone. This makes <span><strong class="command">named-checkzone</strong></span> useful for
1037N/A checking zone files before configuring them into a name server.
1037N/A </p>
1038N/A<p>
1037N/A <span><strong class="command">named-compilezone</strong></span> is similar to
1037N/A <span><strong class="command">named-checkzone</strong></span>, but it always dumps the
1037N/A zone contents to a specified file in a specified format.
1037N/A Additionally, it applies stricter check levels by default,
1037N/A since the dump output will be used as an actual zone file
1037N/A loaded by <span><strong class="command">named</strong></span>.
1037N/A When manually specified otherwise, the check levels must at
1037N/A least be as strict as those specified in the
1037N/A <span><strong class="command">named</strong></span> configuration file.
